The exact number of websites currently blocked by the “Big 5” ISP’s is currently unknown but growing on almost a daily basis. This can lead to certain frustration as many websites which feature content appropriate for all ages will undoubtedly become blocked from time to time. How can one bypass these unfair limitations? Prime Minister David Cameron had stated that these ISPs needed to act to prevent children from “stumbling across hardcore legal pornography”.
Many critics argue that the filters being implemented are simply too wide sweeping and prevent normal users from accessing perfectly legitimate websites suitable for all ages.
It remains to be see how far these new content filtering techniques will go in blocking subscriber access to websites. For now, users will have to contact their provider to remove filtering measures or signup with anonymous VPN service similar to what is offered by TorGuard.
