Did you know that Sykpe does offer socks5 proxy support ? You can now use socks5 proxies with skype service to secure you IP in the country of your choosing with TorGuard. Follow this guide to setup your Anonymous proxy with skype.

First, make sure you have your TorGuard Proxy Service activation email loaded as we will need to copy info from this email..

  1. In Skype, click Tools > Options.
  2. Under Advanced, click Connection.
  3. By default, Skype will attempt to automatically detect your proxy settings. click the dropdown menu and select “socks5”.
  4. Enter the Host IP of the TorGuard server you’d like to connect to and Port as “1080”. This info can be found in your TorGuard activation email.
  5. tick Enable proxy authentication.
  6. Type the Username and Password that was sent to you in your TorGuard Proxy activation email (not your Skype Name and password) and click Save.
  7. Close Skype and be sure that Skype is no longer running.
  8. Restart Skype and sign in.

If you still encounter connection problems, it may also be necessary to configure your proxy server to allow Skype to connect to the internet.

Your network administrator will be able to do this for you.
