Right now Turkey is in a state of chaos. Social media has been shut down, and Turkish TV stations have been seized in the face of a military coup.
Specific elements of the Turkey military are attempting to take power as low flying airplane and gunshots are heard all over Ankara. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has explained that the current government does not want to relinquish power. Tanks and other military vehicles are deployed both in Ankara and Istanbul.
All forms of social media have been shut down–meaning Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and other popular websites. One Turkish account dedicated to monitoring social media uptime reports that Twitter was shut down 11:04 PM local time in Turkey.
